Product Information
Designed, manufactured, and tested by MP Performance in the Netherlands, this module simplifies the process of upgrading to an ECUMaster EMU Black ECU while maintaining full compatibility with the MX-5’s factory wiring.
Featuring an OEM MX-5 connector, it allows for a clean, factory-like installation. Additionally, an integrated options port connector provides the flexibility to wire in a lambda sensor and other auxiliary inputs.
This Plug & Play solution has been tested and proven to work on naturally asperated, turbo, supercharged and ITB equiped MX-5's.
NA and NB PnP Modules
We offer 4 different plug and play modules for your MX-5.
Choose between these:
- NA 1989 up to and including 1995
Recognisable by the two plug, 48 pin connector going into the original ECU
- NA 1996 up to and including 1998
Recognisable by the three plug, 64 pin connector going into the original ECU
- NB 1998 up to and including 2000
Recognisable by the three plug, 64 pin connector going into the original ECU
-NB 2001 up to and including 2005
Recognisable by the three plug, 72 pin connector going into the original ECU
Important notes:
-This kit does NOT include the EMU Black.
We do offer complete kits with the EMU Black and lambda sensor to get your car fully running on the ECU.
Seamless ECU integration for the Mazda MX-5 NA and NB
The MP Performance Plug & Play Module provides a direct connection between the Mazda MX-5’s factory wiring and an ECUMaster EMU Black standalone ECU, ensuring a straightforward installation without cutting or modifying the original harness.
Why and EMU Black?
The Ecumaster EMU black has more features, inputs, outputs and more refined software compared to the common solutions for MX-5's (such as ME221, ME442, Speeduino based ecus and megasquirt).

Getting your MX5 running on the EMU Black
To get your car running on an EMU Black you will also need the following items:
- Ecumaster EMU Black
- Vacuum line from manifold to ECU
- Lambda sensor + connector
- Wiring to connect Lambda sensor to ecu options port
Note for Early NA miata.
This generation has an inacurate throttle position sensor (TPS).
We recommend a variable TPS sensor like swapping to an NB Tps or with our variable TPS sensor kit. We also recommend an Intake temperature sensor (IAT) maintaining consistent performance in all weather conditions.
